Naming ceremony invitation maker

A naming ceremony, or namkaran, is when a family gives a baby its name with blessings from elders, relatives and friends. These cards open with an optional blessing line, then the ceremony title and the baby’s name, followed by the date, time and venue.

About these designs

Choose a cradle hung from a marigold toran, a crescent moon and stars inside a slender domed arch, or a bright geometric rangoli. The designs are contemporary rather than ornate, with warm and jewel-toned colour themes, and they read just as well in Hindi.

If the name will only be announced at the ceremony, leave it empty and the ceremony title becomes the headline. Everything is made in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded to us.

What you can customise

  • A blessing line at the top, such as “॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥”
  • The ceremony title, such as “Naming Ceremony” or “नामकरण संस्कार”, and the baby’s name
  • The proud parents and the family hosting
  • The date, time (or muhurat), venue and address
  • A short message and an RSVP contact
  • A colour theme, and English or Hindi text

Tips before you share it

  1. Confirm the muhurat with your family priest before you print the time.
  2. Switch the card to Hindi for elders: the date and the printed labels change to Hindi too.
  3. Mention lunch or prasad in the message so guests can plan their day.
  4. Download a PNG to send on WhatsApp, or a PDF to print (5×7 inch, no bleed or crop marks). The animated version saves as a GIF or MP4.
